Conklyn's Winter Weddings- Using Ivory and Grey

winter weddingIf you are planning a winter wedding, beautiful inspiration can be found everywhere this time of year. Rather than fighting the cold, embrace that weather, the snow and the chill to make your wedding an event to remember! Even one of the most trendy color palettes for winter weddings – ivory and gray – is reminiscent of the elegant and subtle colors of wintery landscapes.

Old fashioned woolen hooded capes will keep the bridal party warm and give a vintage feel to your photos. Consider a dark gray coat for the bride’s white gown; and ivory white capes over dark gray bridesmaid gowns. If the landscape is covered in white powder, you may wish to allow boots under those long dresses for cozier feet and safer walking. If the bride and groom are to arrive by horse drawn carriage – a popular way to arrive to a winter wonderland – thick white blankets will keep things toasty.

To keep the warm feelings going, have a roaring fireplace available in the gathering room of your venue; consider serving warm eggnog or white hot chocolate as guests arrive.

Taking a cue from the icy outdoor scene, your invitations, place cards and table numbers can be on a frosty ivory opaque cards with charcoal gray calligraphy. Centerpieces of ivory roses and hydrangea look elegant when presented in gray pewter bowls; candlelight as illumination will enhance the sophistication. For your cake, try a solid white ivory design accented with rosebuds airbrushed gray, or gray snowflakes embossed on one layer.
